Ejaz Chaudhary, the president of the PTI in Punjab, raised grave worries about the deteriorating law and order condition across the province of Punjab, especially in Lahore. He said that how the well-known actress Roohi Bano was assaulted has shown the ineffectiveness of the relevant law protection institutions. He said that a member of the PTI Social Media team, Mazhar Iqbal, passed away in some other terrible hit-and-run event that occurred on Ferozpur Road. He challenged what the Punjab Police was attempting to preserve peace and harmony in the province of Punjab and asked whatever their plans were.
He said that the Punjab Police are serving as the private bodyguards of the Sharif family and that the safety of the average citizen’s life and property is not a top concern for them. He declared that there are blameless individuals murdered on the street, it appears that the only ones who have any safety are individuals with a tradition of divisive leadership and exploitative practices.
Secretary General Yasmin said
Regrettably, according to Secretary-General Yasmin, the Punjab Police are simply safeguarding the Sharif dynasty, while the average person has to take responsibility for his or her safety. She said that with the adoption of the Police Order 2002, it is anticipated that the province would develop its law enforcement system. No other county except KP has implemented police reforms at this time. She said that police practices would continue to fall short so long as they do not have lots of freedom, de-politicization, and unbiased body supervision. This is exactly what is going on in Punjab, where the famed Thana Civilization still exists since the governing class finds it to their advantage.
Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas
Andleeb Abbas, the minister of communication, said that the impasse that has been formed in the actions of the police reflects the ill of Shabaz Sharif’s competency. Their government bureaucrats are merely there to enjoy the VIP privileges that come with their positions, and they are lacking the qualifications necessary to overhaul the police force. She said that to preserve peace and order, police productivity is deteriorating daily and is getting close to its weakest point.
She said that Shabaz Sharif is not using the Punjab Police for the primary function for which it was intended. She voiced her profound sadness and sadness at the untimely passing of Mazhar Iqbal and urged that the police promptly prosecute the person responsible for his killing.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi
A high-level conference was held to examine the current state of law and order, and it was headed by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi. Also present at the event were the former Federal Minister of Punjab, Moonis Elahi, and the Home Adviser, Omar Sarfraz Cheema.
The delegates at the event received a presentation on the current state of law and order in the province capital from the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) of Lahore.
The Chief Minister of Punjab gave orders to the police force to reduce the incidence of crime in Lahore at whatever expense, and he asked for an update on the situation after two weeks.
Forensic labs established
The administration of the province made a few additional choices, one of which was to broaden the functions of forensic investigation. The Chief Minister of Pakistan (CM) Pervaiz Elahi has said that forensic labs would also be created in Rawalpindi and Multan.
In addition, the officials in charge of the province decided to improve Dolphin Force by modernizing its operations and bolstering its reputation. To reduce the number of offenses that are committed, the chief minister issued orders to implement steps for “hard policing.”
The Chief Minister of Punjab gave his approval for the creation of eight additional police stations in the city of Lahore. In addition, he said that the government would finish staffing the police delegations in every police station in the province.
He went on to say that the crime reduction was mostly attributable to the increased visibility of law enforcement officers.
Ababeel Force
The establishment of the Ababeel Squad in Lahore was undertaken with the primary objective of enhancing the existing level of law and order and reducing the overall rate of criminal activity in the city.
CCPO Lahore has established the Ababeel Squad to assist the local police in their battle against crime. This policy wing’s fleet consists of forty officers and twenty motorbikes, and it is fully equipped with all of the most up-to-date weapons, as well as wireless phones, handcuffs, and protective jackets.
The Ababeel Squad’s primary mission will be to patrol the high-crime parts of the city. Additionally, they will serve as a fast reaction squad in terms of cordoning off and spot monitoring in these kinds of neighborhoods. It will collaborate closely with the Dolphin Force and the Anti-Riot Force, which are the other two significant branches of the Lahore Police Department.
